Delete your account

You can delete your DualRead account at any time. This page explains how to do it, what gets deleted, and what we are legally required to keep.

1. From inside the app (fastest)

If DualRead is still installed:

• Open Settings → Account
• Tap Delete account
• Confirm in the dialog

Deletion happens immediately. You are signed out straight away.

2. By email (if you already uninstalled the app)

Send a message to support@dualread.app with the subject “Account deletion request”.

Send it from the same email address you used to sign in with Google. That address is how we identify your account — we store it only as a one-way hash, so we cannot look you up by name or any other detail.

We complete the deletion within 30 days of receiving the request, and reply to confirm.

3. What is deleted

• the link between your account and your Google identity;
• all active sessions and device labels (for example “Pixel 8”);
• your coin balance and your access to the account;
• error reports linked to your account.

Books, translations and reading progress stored on your device are not touched by this — uninstalling the app or deleting the files removes them.

Your Google Drive backup

Sync runs automatically once you sign in with Google, and the app keeps your library in a hidden application folder inside your own Google Drive. The delete dialog offers to erase that copy as well, and the option is ticked by default — untick it only if you want to keep the backup.

If you request deletion by email, we cannot erase that folder for you — it lives in your Google account and our servers have no access to it. Remove it yourself at Google Drive → Settings → Manage apps → DualRead → Delete hidden app data.

4. What is kept, and why

Records of payments and coin transactions are kept in an anonymised form, with no link to you as a person. Accounting and tax law requires retaining financial records for 3–7 years; keeping them faceless is how we satisfy that without keeping your personal data.

Error reports sent before you signed in carry no link to your account, so deletion does not reach them. They are deleted automatically 14 days after they arrive.

Encrypted database backups may still contain your account for up to 30 days after deletion, after which they are removed automatically.

5. Before you delete

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Any remaining coins are forfeited and cannot be restored or refunded. If you have an active subscription, cancel it separately in Google Play → Subscriptions — deleting your DualRead account does not cancel billing on Google's side.
